The Saudi-led coalition said on Monday that it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards the Saudi capital of Riyadh, where explosions were heard early that morning.

Coalition spokesperson Turki Al-Maliki made the announcement in a post on the social platform X.

In a press release dated October 26, the coalition said it had carried out a “qualitative military operation” in response to repeated attacks by the Houthi militia targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and Yemen using ballistic missiles and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

The coalition said the operation targeted military sites in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen, destroying five tunnels used to store ballistic missiles, four ballistic missile launchers and a missile storage facility. It also targeted supply lines, fortifications and military equipment along front lines in Yemen.

The coalition said it would continue operations to neutralise threats and protect civilians in Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
